vertical N-S ledge. There is a wide variety of reef fish. Grouper,
snapper, jacks, barracuda, and moray eels. Trumpetfish and spotfin
drums have also been seen here. There is lobster in the caves
along the base and top of the reef. The second dive will be
on a different reef with a similar profile.

On the inside of the undercut ledge, the
reef is 10+ foot high. The top edge is
jagged and heavily overgrown with soft
corals, sponges, algae, and other
invertebrates. There is a small
artificial reef composed of 20 Erojacks that were
originally stacked 6 ft. high in a sandy depression. Five
Erojacks were knocked off of the pile by Hurricane David and
thrown into the sand hole about 5 ft. away. More were knocked
off by later storms. Angelfish, Bermuda chub, barracuda,
lobster, and many fish are present.

From an
aerial view this reef resembles the
shape of a crab. The N and S end curl to
resemble crab claws. The western facing
ledge is teaming with life. This is a
favorite lobstering spot
due to it's undercut ledges. Whale sharks have been sited in
this area; however, very infrequent.

The undercut
sheer edge has caves and large blocks of
coral rock that lie on the sand. All
types of marine life are represented
here. It is also a good spot to see
Caribbean Reef Sharks. The reef actually
got its name from being a popular area
for grouper. Also a popular lobstering spot.

A favorite reef for Dive Operators on
rough days due to the close proximity to Hillsboro Inlet and
Lighthouse. Ironically Lighthouse Ledge is one the best reefs in
Broward County. In addition to the abundance of marine life, there
are large soft corals adorning the northern hook in the reef.

This reef has a series of east, west facing ledges with rock
mounds thrown in for confusion. A very
extensive reef area. Can be
navigationally challenging, hence the
name. However wherever you are on the
reef you will be happy.

Another
favorite reef of Dive Operators on rough
days due to the close proximity to Boca
Inlet. However, the N - S ledge here in
some places is 20 ft. high. The reef was
named for one of the local resident
moray eels. Goliath Groupers are have
also been spotted here.

This is a man made trench cut through
the reef to lay the outfall pipe. The
trench runs east and west and begins at
about 50ft on the western end and runs
east to the outfall pipe at about 100ft.
There is a man made dam across the
middle with artificial structures placed
inside the trench. As you approach the
outfall pipe there are hundreds of car
tires.

This is not
an official sanctuary, however a few of
the dive operators agreed not to put
hunters in this area to keep it as
pristine as possible. The relief on the
southern end is not as prominent as the
northern end. The north end is covered
in soft corals and marine life.

Reef Sharks are seen here occasionally.
This reef is not seen that often due to
it's distant proximity to the nearest
inlet, which makes a great dive due to
the abundance of marine life. Shark Reef
is a N-S ledge with 15 ft. to 20 ft. of
relief.

This is the
Boca Outfall Trench. The trench runs
east and west through the 3rd reef. The
walls in some places are over 20 ft.
high. The ledge to the south of the
trench also has high cliffs with
undercut caves. This a favorite sleeping
spot for turtles. Following the trench
east leads to the outfall pipe. Plums of
fresh water rise to the surface creating
a tornado effect.
